About
Brayan Viera is an illustrator and animator based in Panama.
His work incorporates the colors and textures typically associated with childhood into contemporary illustration and animation, reminding the audience that it’s okay to feel like a child again.
He often uses technology as a driving force for his creativity, employing 3D and VR to model and create structured sculptures that resemble modeling clay.
Statement
Recently, my work has been sculptures using virtual reality.
My work delves into the intersection of technology and human emotions, exploring how they interact in the digital realm. Through the computer, which has become my primary creative tool, I navigate the complexities of everyday life in a world mediated by the virtual.
I work with virtual reality to build worlds that examine our relationship with technology: how it permeates love, work, pain, and joy. My art strives to be honest and free of pretensions, integrating seamlessly into the digital landscape as art born and raised on the internet.
Virtual reality is a medium I find fascinating for its duality: profoundly artificial and plastic, yet surprisingly human. By using hands as the primary tool instead of a mouse, I feel like I am sculpting in a virtual space that blends the traditional with the digital, transforming every gesture into a form of contemporary craftsmanship.
